The Blue and the Gray

I recently bought this book...

I love all the quilts in it and so my friend Janie and I decided to have our own little quilt challenge to make a few of the quilts out of the book.  We both have a stack of lovely Civil war repro fabrics that we want to use so Janie chose the first one which is 'Blue and Gray'

This is my rendition.  It is not a large quilt, only 40" x 48".

I quilted it with a baptist fan pattern.

It is my turn to choose the next one we will make.  Hmmmm choices, choices!!  I'll let you know what I decide.

Now I am going to empty my studio and Hubby and I are going to redecorate it over the next 4 days.  It is 6 years since it was done and it is looking decidedly shabby. A good excuse to have a clear out I guess.

Happy Quilting.

Remember these?

Some of you will remember me posting about the following 2 quilts......

Well, I entered them both in our local quilt show, 'The Great Northern Quilt Show' in Harrogate this past weekend.  I am delighted to say that they both won ribbons.  My dresden plate quilt won 1st prize in the bed quilt category and my blue and brown one won 1st prize for longarm quilting and also a judges merit ribbon.

I'm even more delighted that my Dresden plate quilt sold with all proceeds going to the Hospice that looked after my Dad in his last month of life.  All in all, a very good weekend.  I just want to say thank you to KarolAnn for taking the above photos - it's hard to take a photo of yourself!!!  Check out her blog for a lovely collage of quilts that were on show.  I will also post a few for you to look at.  So many talented quilters out there.....enjoy.
