The Pink Fairy has her quilt.

I managed to get my granny squares quilt finished this week.

This 'pink fairy' is the super cute recipient of the quilt.  She is my 'step granddaughter to be'!!! which is such a mouthful so herinafter will be referred to as my granddaughter (as that is how we think of her already).  It is to go on her bed which is pink.  I gave it to her this weekend after we went to watch her in her first ballet show.......adorable.  Not having daughters ourselves, this was something we missed out on. It was a real joy to watch.  We were not the only ones to think so judging by the collective 'aaaaah' when a troop of 4 year old little girls, and one brave little boy, came on stage.

I quilted it with a pattern called 'apple a day' and I used a red Moda spot to bind it.

This weekend was a holiday weekend and most people would be taking things easy and relaxing in the garden....I was making and icing 150 cupcakes for the wedding of a good friends daughter!  Actually, it was an honour to do that for her and the wedding itself was lovely.  It is always a joy to see two people in love preparing to spend the rest of their lives together.

I even managed to dance the night away despite my poorly ankle - although I must admit is it a little sore today but life is for living and I certainly wasn't going to sit on the sidelines like a wallflower!!

Back to work today.

  1. A beautiful quilt for a beautiful girlie

  2. What a sweetie. She looks lovely in pink. The quilt is lush. Cakes don't look so bad either x

  3. Oh my goodness she is gorgeous!!! That is such a beautiful photo! I love the quilt you made her and I am sure she will treasure it. You chose the perfect backing and binding for such a lovely quilt.
