Very Happy Weekend!!!

This weekend our oldest son Ben got engaged to a lovely girl called Heather.  He is over the moon and so are we!  She is a lovely young woman and they are so happy together.  And, to our utter joy, we get 2 for the price of 1!!  We get a (step) granddaughter who is utterly, squeezably cute!!

(She is a little manic whirlwind and trying to get a photo of her standing still is an art!  I just stand there and click away and hope for a photo that is not blurred - wish I had her energy)

And what better way to celebrate than get in the kitchen a bake a cake!  I saw this recipe in a freebie insert in our Saturday newspaper so had to have a go ...

...not bad if I say so myself.

Only one difference - the one in the book has a lovely smooth ganache topping and my topping (don't know why) has bubbles in it.  But, hey, bubbles mean lightness and air and therefore less calories Ha Ha! (if that were true I would happily eat all my meals in mousse form!)

Now for some quilts quilted this week.

This was made by Philippa using some Sweetwater 'Reunion' fabric.  I just love the pattern.  It makes me think of boats, sailing and summertime.

Diana made this lovely applique quilt and she wanted an allover daisy pattern on it.  So cute.  A real girly quilt.

Margaret made these two cute quilts using a flower fairy fabric.  It is hard to see the quilting but she wanted a feather pattern on both.

This was made by Judy using Kaffe Fassett fabrics.  I quilted it with a pattern called nouveau scallops.

I hope you all have a great week.

Happy Quilting

Chris

PS   My family had no trouble with the bubbles on top of my cake!!

Going, going, gone.... (or it will be by tomorrow morning)
